Big Bat Count at Otterhead Lakes Saturday 18^th July

The Big Bat Count, is a Somerset Bat group project that lets people find out about their local bats.  The counts involve self guided groups of people using the latest technology to automatically ID the bats, and then they log their sightings online to produce a local bat map on the night.  Instant results!  These are proving very popular.

Andy Avery of SBG has offered to lead a Big Bat Count for us at Otterhead Lakes.

What we need to find out is are you interested in taking part? Do you have some friends or family to make up your team?

Sunset on Saturday 18^th July is at 9.17pm  so we’ll meet at the car park for the briefing at 8:50PM, count would start at 9:35pm and end at 10:35 pm.

Numbers will be limited to a maximum of 6 teams of preferably 2 to 5 people (any children must be aged over 5 & be accompanied by an adult & registered beforehand).

You woud need: a smart ‘phone with iNaturalist app installed.

2 special bat detectors will be provided to each team.
